Reliance Jio MNP

1:17 PM Posted by Magneto Mohit No comments

If you want to keep your existing number and also want to experience Jio then you can now shift your existing number to Reliance Jio.

Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani dropped a proverbial bomb at the company's AGM on Thursday when we revealed all Reliance Jio plans will come with free voice calling, and data at a fraction of the cost offered by current telcos. Jio services will become available from Monday absolutely free as part of the 'Jio welcome offer', so everyone can try them at no charge. This Reliance Jio welcome offer will be valid till December 31, after which the announced rates will be applicable.
Free voice calling and lucrative data prices are sure to tempt many users to make the switch to Jio networks. Instead of getting a new number, you can opt for mobile number portability (MNP) to shift to the Reliance Jio network without changing your phone number. In July last year, DoT made it compulsory for telecom operators to roll out nationwide MNP, allowing users to keep their phone number even if they switched carriers or locations. Because of nation-wide MNP, subscribers of Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, and other telcos can shift to Reliance Jio and avail the free Preview Offer till end of the year without changing their number.

Here's how you can use MNP to shift to Reliance Jio without changing your number:

First up, you need to send a text message to your current operator requesting for a port out. The message PORT should be sent to 1900. In return, you will receive a Unique Porting Code from 1901 with 15 days validity from your current carrier.
Head to any Reliance Mobile Store or retailer and fill up the Customer Application Form (CAF) where you'll also fill in the porting code. Submit the required documents (proof of address, proof of identity and photograph), and in return Reliance will issue a new Reliance Jio SIM card. Once activated, this SIM will use the same phone number you already had, and your old SIM will be deactivated.

The Reliance Jio SIM could take up to 7 days to activate, and a fee of Rs. 19 will be charged. During porting, your number might  be dead for about two hours (sometime between 10pm and 5am) before the new Reliance Jio SIM gets activated. Once your current SIM starts showing "No Service", it's likely time to put in your new Reliance Jio SIM.
Once ported, the Jio SIM should be activated, and remember you cannot use MNP to go back to your earlier operator or someone else for at least 90 days. In his AGM speech, Ambani requested all the other operators to not limit customers' right to migrate to Jio using MNP.

He also blamed the telcos of creating a poor experience for Jio customers. He said that in the last week alone Jio customers faced 5 crore call failures to other networks because of insufficient interconnect capacity provided by competitors. Ambani claimed that the telcos were giving the impression to Jio customers that voice calling wasn't working, when actually the telco operators were deliberately dropping calls.

How To Configure A Router

5:07 PM Posted by Magneto Mohit , No comments

The procedure for accessing to the control panel of a router and adjust all the settings you need to connect to the web is simple. Even if you’ve never handled one, you'll not find any difficulty in carrying it out. Let’s see together, step by step, all you need to do and how to do it!

The first things you need to do is to connect the router to a power outlet , the line and the computer using an ethernet cable. If your router has a power button, you press it to let the device in operation.

At this point, start your favorite web browser on your PC (example Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc.) and connect to the address 192.168.1.1 to access the router’s configuration panel. If you encounter any problems, try using the address 192.168.0.1.

To access the panel of the router, you will be prompted to enter a username and a password. Commonly, the key combination is admin/admin but in some cases you have to use other settings that can be found in the user manual of the router.

Once in the control panel of the router should start automatically, the initial setup of the device. Otherwise , find the button to start it (example Setup wizard ) and click on it.

Best Launchers For Android

launcher for android

If you are still using your Android device with the stock launcher, you are in for a treat. The world of third-party Android launchers overflows with creativity, convenience, features, customization. Best of all, almost all launchers are available for free or, at least, offer free versions with limited functionality. And, please, don’t worry. There’s absolutely nothing that you could break by installing a new launcher. If you don’t like the new environment, you can simply uninstall it like any other app.

ONE LAUNCHER

Those of you who are looking for an Android replacement don’t need to look any further. One Launcher from one BJ has been inspired by the latest version of the iOS operating system from Apple, bringing its aesthetic sensibilities and general usability principles to Android users.

Just like on Apple devices, all your icons are placed directly on the home screen, instead of being hidden inside an app drawer. You can still organize icons into folders, but you can also keep everything as it is. The latter option is great for people who use only a limited number of apps to accomplish everything they need.

The creators of the launcher have spent a lot of effort trying to optimize it for maximum performance and low memory consumption. Their effort is apparent every time you switch from one home screen to another, or when you look at how many megabytes of memory you have left for other apps. Best of all, the launcher is available for free and runs on all Android devices version 2.3.3 and up.

NOVA LAUNCHER

With almost 50,000,000 downloads and 4.6 stars, Nova Launcher is likely the most recommended Android launcher in existence. The concept is simple: take what’s already good about the stock launcher, improve it, and throw in tons of new features. The result is a product with almost universal appeal. Power users will appreciate the endless customizability offered by Nova Launcher, and casuals will be happy with the fact that the launcher is not forcing anything down their throats, allowing them to explore new features at their own pace.

What features are we talking about? For starters, there’s the ability to download third-party icon themes for Nova Launcher on the Play Store, giving your smartphone a fresh, new look. Some are paid, but most are available for free. To make your new icons with well with the rest of the launcher, Nova gives you control over the appearance of labels, folders, drawer tabs, scrolling effects, and icon and widget positioning. The dock is made more useful, thanks to its ability to host a 4×1 widget, such as your music player or camera app.

When you are finally done and have everything exactly the way you want, you can backup your layout and launcher settings. This can save you a lot of time when you need to restore them in the future – perhaps after a switch to a different ROM or complete data wipe.

HOLA LAUNCHER

The developers of Hola Launcher started by asking themselves a simple question, “what features do people really need in a launcher?” When they got the answer, they sat down and created Hola Launcher, a lightweight alternative for people who want to accomplish as much work as possible with the least amount of resources.

After you spend a few minutes exploring everything that the launcher has to offer, it becomes almost hard to believe that it is only 4MB large. Best of all, its memory footprint is equally minuscule, making the launcher fast and responsive. The focus here is simplicity. The interface is clean, easy-to-navigate, and access to all commonly used features is available with a few taps.

Beyond the usual assortment of features, such as customizable themes, wallpapers, folders, and others, are Hola features – small applications with a lot of power. Hola Shina is a smart menu that opens when you swipe from a bottom corner. It gives you a quick and simple access to frequently used apps and settings. Hola Boost is represented as a small floating bubble that instantly frees up your smartphone’s RAM after you tap on it. There’s also Hola Box, a quick way how you can hide certain apps that you don’t want to be seen by others from your home screen.

GO LAUNCHER

GO Launcher is a great choice for people who would want to take a step away from the traditional Android launcher design. There’s a good reason why GO Launcher is the most downloaded launcher for Android. It combines functionality with great user experience design to create a cohesive package filled with smart features designed to make your day just a bit easier.

The launcher is built on an innovative 3D engine, which was designed from the ground up to be fast, responsive, and extendable. On top of this engine is the ability to choose between more than 25 screen animation effects and well over 10,000 unique themes. Such a staggering amount of customization could be overwhelming, if it wasn’t for GO Launcher’s DIY Themer, an app that allows you to easily decorate the launcher just the way you want it.

But you don’t become the most downloaded launcher in the Play Store just because you give users a handful of pretty wallpapers and widget. GO Launcher also comes with fantastic app management features, allowing you to hide or lock individual apps to increase your security and privacy. Built-in smartphone optimization widgets increase the performance of your device, making heavy multitasking more enjoyable and free from any lag.

SMART LAUNCHER 3

One of the most innovative launchers available on Android is Smart Launcher 3, the third version of a launcher that places ease of use in the front row. So many launchers just build on top of the stock launcher by adding new features and customization options. Or they go the other route and they strip or hide certain functionality to appeal to more casual users.

Smart Launcher 3 is not based on the stock launcher, and it really shows. The home screen is represented by a circle of six icons that let you quickly open your favorite apps. From there, you can either go to the widgets area or open the unique app drawer. What makes it so special? Its intelligent auto-sorting capability. When you install a new app, the launcher will automatically place it in the appropriate category, allowing you to quickly find it when you need it.

A convenient search bar is always within reach, so you can quick search apps, contacts, or the web. A part of the launcher is a lock screen with notifications and extensive theme support. You can download themes for Smart Launcher 3 in the Play Store and use them to completely change the look of the launcher. Worth mentioning is also the ability to hide selected apps from the apps grid and protect them with a password.

How To Repair Or Recover PDF File

10:45 AM Posted by Magneto Mohit No comments

Any file type can get corrupted. If you don’t back up your data, finding out something broke can be a nightmare. Here, we’re looking specifically at PDF recovery.

It may be possible to fully repair the entire PDF, restoring it to its original state, or you might only be able to extract elements and rebuild the rest. Anything you can get, right?

Once you’ve checked out our tips, please pop into the comment section at the bottom to let us know if you’ve ever suffered PDF corruption and if you managed to resolve it.

Your PDF Reader

Are you sure that the problem is with the PDF file? Instead, it might just be that the program you’re using to view the PDF is playing up.

Repairing Adobe Reader

The most common PDF viewer is Adobe Reader. First, check the program is up to date by launching it and going to Help > Check for Updates…. You’ll either be told the program is up to date or that there are updates to install. If there are, go ahead and install them.

If that doesn’t bring any luck, keep Adobe Reader open and this time navigate to Help > Repair Adobe Reader Installation. It might be that the files Adobe Reader relies on to run have become corrupted and this method will try to patch them up.

Still no luck? Search uninstall a program on your system search, select the relevant option and then uninstall Adobe Reader. Then head to the Adobe Reader website to download and install the latest version. At this point your copy of Adobe Reader should be good to go.

Using an Alternative Reader

Adobe Reader should now be spick and span, but it might be that your PDF file just doesn’t want to play ball with it. In this case, it’s worth trying out another tool.

In the past we’ve rounded up alternative PDF readers that are more focused on the reading of a PDF rather than anything extraneous. Two of the best choices, and both free, are Foxit Reader and Sumatra PDF. Download these and give them a shot with your PDF.

You might also find that Okular and Evince are able to read your PDF file when other software cannot. This is because they use a different rendering method to display PDFs. Thanks to user Mechanical snail at Super User for sharing that tip.

If you’re still having problems then it’s time to start focussing on repairing the PDF file itself or at least scraping it for what you can pull out.

Repair or Recover a PDF File

We’ve previously written about corruption with Office files, but some of those techniques can also apply to PDFs, namely looking for previous versions of the file and using third-party applications.

Previous Versions

If you make use of Windows Backup or have another backup program then you may find that you can roll back to a previous and working version of the PDF. To check with Windows Backup, right click the PDF in Windows Explorer, select Properties and then the Previous Versions tab.

This will bring up a list of all the old versions of the file that exist. You can Open the copies to check them out and then use the Restore… button to bring them back to life on your system.

A similar technique would be to use a data recovery program, like Recuva, that will scan your drive and look for old files that have been deleted from your system. If you had an old copy of the PDF file that you’ve removed, this technique may bring luck.

Repair Applications

There are applications out there that specifically aim to repair your PDF. Some of these don’t require you to download any software and can be run in the browser, like PDFaid and PDF Tools Online. Give these both a shot, but if the corruption is severe then they may not be able to help.

You can also try specialist file repair programs, like FileRepair1 (our FileRepair1 review). This will scan the PDF, identify the failure and fix what it can. It’s not always successful in every case, but you may find it helpful.

Extracting From the PDF

If you’re not able to repair the entire PDF, then you may still be able to extract elements like the text and images.

For the text, you can use programs that will convert your PDF to a Word file and allow you to get the text that way. However, I find one of the best tools is actually the online application PDF to Word Converter offered by Nitro; although some characters may look a bit funky depending on the type of corruption.

If your PDF contains images, try following our guide on how to extract images from a PDF. Again, this may have varying results depending on the level of corruption, but it’s definitely worth seeing what can be pulled out.

Save Your PDF

Hopefully these methods have been useful in saving your PDF. You might not have been able to recover everything (such is the bane of corruption), but you may have saved elements of the file.

Remember, you should always have a stable backup plan in place to ensure that corrupted data doesn’t bother you because you’ll always have a secondary copy to restore from.

Mobile Over Heating Solution

12:38 PM Posted by Magneto Mohit No comments

Summer, the celebrated season of swimming, tanning, margaritas and ice creams that melt too quickly, although the same can’t be said to your smartphone and every other portable gadget. Overheating poses a serious risk for your electronic products, potentially damaging or destroying your electronics indiscriminately. Fortunately, you can lower that risk of having the heat doing so, unless, of course, you choose the obvious way of leaving your electronics in the fridge all summer long. How to cool down your phone? Here are some tips to get you started to protect your devices.

Avoid Hot Places

This should be the most obvious one. Surrounding temperatures play a huge factor in the well-being of your beloved smartphone. The heat inside a car, for example, could easily swell up to 20 degrees higher than outside on a hot day, easily raising up the heat from an 80 to a 100 degrees hellhole. The glovebox isn’t exactly safe either.

Naturally, you wouldn’t want to leave your electronics under direct sunlight either, or pretty much anywhere you can expect the temperatures to rise ridiculously. There’s tons of little sensitive circuits in your phone and you will rather not take the risk. While some phone has been developed to be weather proof, the battery could still swell up on the lucky days, or simply explode.

Use It Less

Stop getting glued to your phone. Not only will the phone heats up from the processing, then ends up working overclock in the hot temperature as well, coupled with the extra warmth of your palm, you would rather put the phone down more regularly. Just leaving it while you are doing other business will give it ample time to cool itself down.

Turn It Off and On

This instruction is sort of becoming a running joke now, but it does work effectively for most electronics problems. Reboot your phone to have it refresh. It doesn’t take much effort and time. If your phone have too much information stored, however, it might be better to leave it on, since booting up all those information might take years and ends up eating up more power. So if you only use your phone that doesn’t have a lot of apps, rebooting can give your smartphone just enough rest it needed to come back to life.

Separate Your Electronics

Don’t stack your phones, laptop and tablets stacked up against or top of each other, especially if it’s inside your bag! The heat could end up transferring to each other, making it more difficult for the respective device to cool itself down. They end up more prone to overheating and higher risk of getting damaged.

Take Off Phone Cover

Something that people often miss out is that the protective case for the smartphone doesn’t really work as well when it’s a hundred degrees outside. Phone cover could trap heat and make the cooling down process more difficult for your phone.

Remove Unnecessary Apps

If your phone tend to overheat even in the colder area, consider that your phone have too many thing to process even during down times. This could include apps you have never used, apps that run in the background, games, ringtones, etc. Do your due diligence monthly and get rid of those apps you never touch anymore to lighten the workload.

Avoid Huge, Battery Consuming Games While Charging

High definition performance intensive game sucks the life out of your battery and push your processor to work at its maximum capacity. So you end up playing with your smartphone plugged in. That’s not a really bright idea since charging itself could produce heat in the battery, plus all the processing to run the game, your device is going to heat up in no time. How to cool down your phone? Just leave it to rest while it’s pumping in the fuel.

Use Specific Apps

Ironically, after the instructions we gave to reduce the number of apps in the smartphone, you can actually use apps to cool down your phone. Battery-cooling app is available to maintain the efficiency and health of your device’s battery.

EaseUS Coolphone: Well-designed intuitive interface and ad-free are always welcomed for any apps. This app makes the tedious job of closing running apps one by one all done in a single tap.

Master Doctor Droid Cooler: Effective and simple like EaseUS coolphone, the app detects all the taxing apps running in the background of your Android device and close all of them in one tap. It’s up to you to decide which of the two apps you think works better.

Coolify: This is the app available and specifically designed for rooted devices. It runs in the background with minimal processing, working to keep the operating temperatures at a regular range, automatically closing the background apps and minimizing the system processing while the phone is on standby.

Cooler Master: This feature rich and ad-free app monitors your device’s CPU in real time, listing down other apps that weigh down the CPU. You can then close all those unnecessary apps to help your phone to cool down.
